Educational Projects
In order to meet the diverse needs of students of all ages, we work closely with the education sector (teachers, students and families) throughout the territory and especially in our local environment.
Out of Reserves
Out of Reserves is a temporary hosting programme in public schools for works from the city’s contemporary art collection, created by current artists in Barcelona. Sourced from the municipally owned artwork collection, a large part of the pieces were acquired using the COVID-19 Fund from 2020. The project, which includes the installation and exhibition of the works in secondary and primary schools, recognises these educational centres as exhibition spaces and an extension of the institution-museum itself.
Sponsor your facilities
Thanks to the collaboration framework agreement between the institutions of the Barcelona Provincial Council (DIBA), Foment de Ciutat, Fundació Tot Raval, CCCB, MACBA, Maritime Museum of Barcelona (Drassanes), Filmoteca de Catalunya and the Liceu, the foundations of the educational project Sponsor your facilities, which aims to acquaint all students in the Raval with the big cultural facilities in the neighbourhood, were established. In addition, the intention is to develop a long-term shared process that is part of the academic curriculum and for students to achieve learning through their participation in an enriching educational experience.
Neighbourhood boys and girls
Neighbourhood boys and girls is a permanent space where neighbourhood children from 9 to 12 can experiment with an artist. It involves undergoing a collective experience in an elastic area, open to the imagination and with a desire to break rules. With the artist Cristina Fraser, we are working on the project Beyond the Spatial.
Metzineres
Metzineres is an environment of Shelter for Women who Use Drugs Surviving Violence, as well as being the first comprehensive programme for harm reduction exclusively for women and gender non-conformists in Catalonia. This relationship process that we begin together aims to open up a space of trust and complicity where the group can learn about and discover tools for personal and collective empowerment using strategies of contemporary art.
Exoteric Department
Exoteric Department is a project is devoted to reflection and the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge in learning contemporary art and its professionalization, with an educational approach that favours horizontality and self-management among its participants.
Barcelona Draws
The MACBA collaborates every year with the Barcelona Draws festival, the city’s big event for drawing.
