Participation and Collaboration
We understand contemporary art as a space where attention is drawn to the tensions of today’s world. For this reason we work in networks with associations and organizations of the city offering a space for dialogue and collaboration.
Refugee Friendly
In 2018 MACBA signed an agreement with the NGO Refugee Friendly, which is dedicated to building friendships between locals and refugees through their hobbies, inviting them to attend cultural events. This agreement allows refugees new to Barcelona to enjoy Friends of MACBA activities.
Black Barcelona
Black Barcelona is a space for the visibility, recognition and interrelation of the Afro-descendant and African community and allies through different literature, theatre, music, gastronomy and fashion activities. The MACBA’s collaboration with Black Barcelona includes hosted activities and joint programming on a regular basis.
Barcelona Tech City
The MACBA has signed a strategic partnership with Barcelona Tech City to offer visits to the Raval to entrepreneurs new to the city and their families to acquaint them with the cultural offerings of the neighbourhood and the MACBA. Barcelona Tech City is an association open to all Barcelona-based members of the local and global technology ecosystem.
Metzineres
Metzineres is an environment of Shelter for Women who Use Drugs Surviving Violence, as well as being the first comprehensive programme for harm reduction exclusively for women and gender non-conformists in Catalonia. This relationship process that we begin together aims to open up a space of trust and complicity where the group can learn about and discover tools for personal and collective empowerment using strategies of contemporary art.
