Publications

Most MACBA publications accompany and complement the exhibitions we organise. In each case, they are defined by the exhibition project and include essays by curators and experts, explanatory texts, illustrations graphic material for reference, biographies, bibliographies and lists of works.

MACBA publishes books about its Collection. Containing almost six thousand works, it constitutes the backbone of the Museum. Some publications offer a periodical revision of the Collection from historical and critical points of view, while others, in a smaller format, are books dedicated to particular works and subjects.

The MACBA rounds off its activities with a cultural and educational programme that bridges all of the Museum’s lines of work. The flow of thought generated by the seminars, lectures, film programmes and other activities is made available to the public through this series of books of essays.

Quaderns portàtils is a series of publications freely distributed on the Internet. The texts frequently come from lectures and seminars that have taken place at MACBA, as well as from out-of-print exhibition catalogues. The documents are available in PDF and ePUB formats.

Quaderns d'àudio (Audio Notebooks) is a collection of texts about the Radio Web MACBA programme. It is intended to complement the radio channel’s line of work with the contribution of unpublished documents, presented in a PDF format that can be downloaded and printed.
