Accessibility

At MACBA, we see diversity as beneficial for collective experimentation and learning. As a result, we try to ensure that everyone gets a chance to enjoy each and every one of our spaces, activities and aesthetic proposals. The MACBA accessibility program provides a series of resources to facilitate and improve your museum experience.

You can request accessibility services and resources at reception. MABA provides wheelchairs, hearing loops for visitors with hearing aids, monocles, magnifying glasses or visits with sign language interpreters, among others. There are access points for those with reduced mobility, and well as free access (attendant included) to exhibits for those with credentials certifying their disabled status. If there are queues, persons with a disability or reduced mobility will have the right to preferential access in the advance purchase entry queue.

Recommendations for visitors

Recomendaciones para la visita

Minors

Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. We want your visit to be both stimulating and safe. Please remain with children at all times, and ask museum staff before touching any pieces.

Temperature

During the summer, we recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater. We modify the temperature and humidity indoors depending on exterior conditions. This helps to preserve the pieces on display and increases energy efficiency.

Photography

Good news: photography is allowed in the museum. Take a picture and share it with others! Just don’t use flash photography, please. If you want to use a tripod, please fill in the following form, print it and hand it in at the reception desk. Photographs are only for personal, non-commercial use. At times, we may need to restrict photography for certain pieces or exhibits.

Cloakroom

For security reasons and in order to make your visit more enjoyable, backpacks and other large objects must be left in the lockers in the cloakroom. Two different sizes of lockers are available: 44 x 38 x 46 cm, and 88 x 38 x 46 cm. We do not have lockers for bigger objects such as bicycles, scooters or large suitcases.

Drawing

Visiting school groups are allowed to make sketches using dry drawing instruments. However, please request permission beforehand at educacio [at] macba [dot] cat

The least crowded time in the Museum

The quietest time to visit the museum is from Monday to Friday starting at 2 pm and on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This is the least crowded time, as there are usually no school or group visits.
