Postaler, 1984

Postcard Rack, 1984
Object, 10 x 15 cm
A metal postcard rack, like the ones commonly used in shops, displays mirrors instead of postcards, reflecting its immediate surroundings. Perejaume hiked up a mountain with the postcard rack over his shoulder to place it in different landscapes. The mirrors reflect natural settings, forming a changing painting with a field of vision of 360 degrees, like a portable museum. The work is accompanied by photographs documenting the artist’s action.

Gold does not take on any dirt. And gold, just are diamonds, is an exalted material. It possesses such a degree of abstraction that it encounters you –if you use it artistically– on an already exalted level.
