International Museum Day and Night of the Museums at MACBA is a collective celebration!
Come this Saturday, 18 May, to celebrate International Museum Day and Night of the Museums with us! The MACBA will host an open house all day long from 10:00 am to 1:00 am, with a wide range of activities both inside and outside the museum to enjoy together.
OPEN HOUSE DAY ON THE COLLECTION AND THE CURRENT EXHIBITIONS
This is the ideal opportunity to visit all our exhibitions, from the recently opened Jordi Colomer. Façana Foto Festa Futur Fideus to the temporary exhibitions (Daniel Steegmann Mangrané. A Leaf Shapes the Eye and Visual origin. Film l video l information) as well as the exhibit entitled MACBA collection. Prelude. Poetic Intention.
If you’re excited about discovering these exhibitions and their artworks, artists, work processes and narratives in greater detail, we invite you to participate in the several guided visits that will take place throughout the day. You can check the timetables and make your reservations here.
As part of the Jordi Colomer exhibition, we’re also promoting two activities: El balcó (8:00 pm), a collective work created together with the Casal dels Infants del Raval during which two gegants will talk with the audience in the square from the balcony, and Spanish Coast (9:30 pm), where Laura Weismahr will take a journey through the work entitled ¡Únete! Join Us!, (2017), reciting a monologue in different languages that intersperses Franz Kafka’s short story Das Stadtwappen (The City Coat of Arms, 1920) with various found or improvised texts.
MACBA FROM THE SKY GUIDED VISITS
As a major novelty, this year MACBA is opening its doors to some of its unique spaces. With the MACBA des del cel guided visits, you’ll have the opportunity to access the architectural structure of the Convent dels Àngels, learn about its history and its connection with the city, and also go up to the tower of the Study Centre to enjoy a panoramic view of Barcelona and understand how the city is structured, from the city walls to the layout designed by Cerdà. Check the timetables to make your reservation here.
ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES
If you decide to come in the morning with your kids, don’t miss the family workshop UAU!! Àlbums i històries al MACBA, with Sherezade Bardají and Yoshi Hioki, designed for children 5 and up who are eager to delve into a universe of oral stories while discovering the different spaces in the museum. The workshop will take place at 11:30 a.m. You can sign up here.
You can also visit the family and reading space from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
MACBA BAR
You can stop by the MACBA Bar until 10:30 pm to take a break with a drink and a tasty bite to eat.
SPECIAL PRICE ON OUR PUBLICATIONS
Finally, just like every year, you’ll be able to buy the museum’s publications for the special price of €6, from 17 to 20 May, at the MACBA Store Laie.
We look forward to seeing you at MACBA to appreciate everything that this day of celebrating art and museums has in store for us!
