Anna Irina Russell and Roc Jiménez de Cisneros will work together for the first time in a collaboration to be presented at MACBA.
Anna Irina Russell. Her artistic practice is based on play as a tool to investigate codes and forms of communication and interaction. She works from the creation of absurd situations to decipher established social constructs. She is interested in dynamiting the relationships between the body, space and objects through that which is disconcerting and unusual, using interfaces as a space for interaction. Error, noise and distortion attract her, as they emphasize the way we understand “reality.” She is currently a resident artist of Hangar and has presented her work in numerous spaces, including, notably, the Fundació Suñol and CCCB.
Roc Jiménez de Cisneros. Artist who explores the aesthetic of algorithmic composition and the deconstruction of rave culture. In 1996 he founded the computer music group EVOL, through which he has articulated much of his artistic production to date. Halfway between psychedelia and academia, Jimenez de Cisneros’s work has been presented live and in installation format in galleries, museums, and clubs in Europe, North America and Asia.
