Children see the woods as a space for exploration, a place where things happen beyond human control. In the woods we can find entire worlds within a single tree trunk. In the woods, things return year after year in a clear circular pattern: flowering, ripening, hibernation, again and again. A place where anything can happen. So, every year, around this time, children go to the woods to find a log, take it home and make it human for a while. From the beginning of December until Christmas, they will feed it and take care of it. An imaginary projection that can also be activated in art by looking at woodland and wondering about its precise, natural regularity, questioning its vegetal condition and recovering voices from ancient shamanisms. These are some of the things that happen in the woods and which you can explore in the MACBA Collection.
