Alice Creischer. Apparatus for the Osmotic Compensation of the Pressure of Wealth during the Contemplation of Poverty
The title of this work refers to an instrument designed to measure the sensations experienced upon witnessing and observing the poverty of societies distant from our own. The origins of the work go back to a trip the artist took to India. Through installations, drawings, collages, articles and texts, Creischer explores the intersections between official policies, business and culture, which lead to the emergence of new kinds of alienation and manipulative perversion.
