Bernat Daviu often collaborates with other creators from dance, cinema and other fields to explore displacements of meaning. His work is the result of an activation, often ironic, and frequently references modern art. One example is STANZA (2020), a performative action he carried out in the context of the exhibition Painting. A Permanent Challenge, at CaixaForum Madrid in 2019. Picking up on the current trend among teenagers of dancing outdoors in front of modern buildings with reflective surfaces, Daviu proposed using the works in the exhibition as a mirror to fine-tune the choreography. Dressed in the overalls that make up Daviu’s work Overall Paintings (which was also part of the same exhibition), and under the direction of Mar Aguiló, four performers danced in front of paintings by Ettore Spalletti, Robert Ryman, Gerhard Richter and Sean Scully. The action was projected in real time on four mobile phone screens at Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona.
