House of the Sun, an installation by Pedro Torres produced in 2020, can now be seen as part of the MACBA Collection exhibition. This is how the artist describes it: ‘House of the Sun reflects on our relationship with the sun, as a species and as a planet that is part of a system, by addressing concepts such as distance, movement and time cycles (ours and those of the sun) from a physical, but also emotional and philosophical perspective. It is a reflection on our relationship with this star without whose radiation life would be impossible. A reflection on our past, present and future in terms of sustainability and survival, seeing it as a source of energy for our existence, but also as the possible cause of our destruction. A relationship that is also visual: while we need the sun to see, we risk being burnt and blinded by it.’
