El número y las aguas XIX, 1993

The Number and the Waters XIX, 1993
Drawing, 66.5 x 50.5 cm
Pablo Palazuelo’s training as an architect initiated his interest in mathematics and physics, which was soon expanded with the discovery of Eastern philosophies, esotericism and the Kabbalah. The apparent simplicity of his abstract compositions hides a framework of theoretical references. Rather than producing a limited and closed object, his geometries try to express change and metamorphosis. Although formally working with polygons, prisms, rectangles and other geometric forms, Palazuelo is interested in the intrinsic energy and movement emanating from them. His compositions demand the viewer’s active imagination. He addresses what the eye, when looking rather than identifying visually, can ‘see inside’ or ‘know’.
