Workshop-tour of the exhibition "The Anarchy of Silence. John Cage and Experimental Art"

The exhibition is Spain's first major retrospective focusing on North American avant-garde musician John Cage (1912-1992), an artist who developed a music composition practice so radical that it changed the course of modern music in the 20th century.
The exhibition will trace a course through the artist's career, from his early works from the thirties, which expanded the parameters of percussion music by incorporating non-conventional instruments, to his «prepared piano», to his famous theory on «silence» (and the composition 4'33"), his innovative development of chance first and then indetermination, culminating with his innovative multimedia work, which he began in the 1960s and continued into the 1980s. The exhibition will also cover John Cage's influence on and collaboration with other artists, from Marcel Duchamp to Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and others.

The workshop All around us is music! will reveal the work of Cage and lead students to understand art as a process that runs parallel to life, and to blur the boundaries between art, dance and music. A workshop for learning to listen from a new perspective.
