Activities

MACBA Public Programmes, together with the MACBA Collection and the Temporary Exhibitions, are the core of the Museum’s content and knowledge production areas. As well as organising activities to introduce visitors to contemporary art and increase their familiarity with it, MACBA also prioritises research, study and specialised training. The mission of the MACBA’s Public Programmes is to increase different interest groups and strengthen their relationship to the Museum. The activities broaden knowledge and highlight the social relevance of art, but they also focus on training and the creation of new career choices in this field.

MACBA Public Programmes are targeted at a wide cross-section of society, and range from introductory levels and diffusion to specialised training. They are also a way of ensuring quality and applying scientific method to some of the Museum’s other areas of activity: curatorial, editorial, and educational. Offering a wide range of activities (film, music, literature, etc.) and significant methodological innovations, the MACBA’s Public Programmes also run the Independent Studies Programme (PEI), a postgraduate course on contemporary creative practices.
