Introduction to Contemporary Art Course
For primary school educators
This course offers a framework for interpreting some of the main artistic expressions of the second half of the twentieth century, in order provide an overview of contemporary art and dismantle the myth that it is "cryptic" or hard to understand.
Over five sessions, the course will explore production aspects and the creative process behind specific works, through playful, direct experience in the Museum galleries. There will also be an emphasis on reading and thoughtful reflection on artists’ texts in order to deepen our knowledge of the historical-cultural context that the works arose from.
Approaching the museum as a dynamic mechanism for sharing ideas and knowledge with an open mind offers us an entertaining and respectful introduction to current debates.
Course imparted by Yolanda Jolis. Education program MACBA.
