On 29 October 1967, the Ausstellungen bei Konrad Fischer (Exhibitions in the home of Konrad Fischer) opened its doors at Neubrückstrasse 12 in Düsseldorf as a contemporary art space located in a narrow, ten by three metre passage. The inaugural exhibition was organised by American sculptor Carl Andre, who presented a piece specifically created for the occasion: Altstadt Rectangle. Konrad Fischer (Düsseldorf, 1939-1996) thus embarked on a career as a gallery owner that would son lead him to become one of the leading figures of the conceptual art of the sixties and seventies.

The exhibition With a Probability of Being Seen. Dorothee and Konrad Fischer. Archives of an attitude was divided into three sections: an overview of the early work (1964-69) of Konrad Lueg – he used his mother's maiden name at the time – as an artist involved in the fledgling Western German avant-garde; an analysis of his subsequent role as promoter of minimalist and conceptual art; and the presentation of the very personal artistic archive that marked the lives of Dorothee and Konrad Fischer.

The exhibition brought together over three hundred works by forty artists, which exuded the spirit of change and internationalisation that Konrad Fischer did so much to stimulate.
