In 1929, Anni Albers visited Barcelona’s International Exposition specifically to see the German pavilion by Mies van der Rohe. At that time, she was teaching at the Bauhaus, where she stood out for her experimentation with textiles based on abstract compositions. In 1984, she published Connections, a series of autobiographical silkscreen prints in which she reflected on the various stages of her artistic career. Similarly, Camino Real (1967-1969) reproduces the design of the tapestry she made for the Camino Real Hotel, in Mexico City, commissioned by the architect Ricardo Legorreta the same year. The design shows the influence of Mexican culture in Albers’ work.
