Mauricio Sierra studied dramatic arts and theatre. In his work, the body has become a constant support and object of research, being, at the same time, the territory that is constructed and revealed. The impulse to find points of conjunction that cause the languages of dance, theatre and performance to overflow has driven his creation processes, wherein he explores contemporary languages through strategies that are articulated in non-conventional spaces. His pieces highlight the decision to build walking-based practices that address presence and imminent transformation. During the last few years, Sierra has collaborated in the direction and interpretation of projects in Colombia and Spain, in important spaces and events such as the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, El Graner, Sismògraf, Fira Mediterrània and Es Baluard. In the latter he participates as assistant stage director for Robert Wilson’s Ubu project.
