Jay Pather viu i treballa a Ciutat del Cap. Dirigeix l’Institut d’Arts Creatives a la University of Cape Town, i és curador del Festival d’Art Públic Infecting the City, i el Festival ‘ICA Live Art’, Afrovibes a Holanda, La Bienal del Cuerpo, Imagen y Movimiento a Madrid, entre d’altres projectes. Recentment ha publicat un llibre, “Transgressions, Live Art in South Africa” juntament amb Catherine Boulle, va ser part del jurat per al recent Premio Internacional de Arte Público, va ser nomenat membre de la University of London, i va ser nomenat Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Cavaller de les Arts i les Lletres) pel govern francès.
