Costas Douzinas es profesor de derecho, director del Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities y vicerrector del Birkbeck College de la Universidad de Londres. Educado en Atenas, Londres y Estrasburgo, ha impartido clases en las universidades de Middlesex, Lancaster, Praga, Atenas, Griffith y Nanjing. Costas es miembro fundador de la Critical Legal Conference, de la Birkbeck Law School y del Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities; director editorial de Law and Critique: The International Journal of Critical Legal Thought, y director ejecutivo de la editorial Birkbeck Law Press.

Costas ha escrito exhaustivamente sobre filosofía legal y política, derechos humanos, estética y teoría crítica. Entre sus libros cabe destacar Postmodern Jurisprudence, Justice Miscarried, Law and Psychoanalysis, The End of Human Rights, Law and the Image, Critical Jurisprudence, Nomos and Aesthetics, Human Rights and Empire, Adieu Derrida y The Idea of Communism (coeditado con Slavoj Žižek). New Critical Legal Studies and The Philosophy of Human Rights se publicará en 2011. Sus libros se han traducido a diez idiomas.
