With a view to showing the works acquired by the MACBA Collection in the last two years, as yet unseen in that context, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art devotes all of its exhibition space to its Collection. This presentation accentuates the change of paradigm brought about by the introduction of time as a reality that defines our connection with the artwork by means of 320 works by 80 artists (250 of which are on view for the first time). The exhibition features installations, paintings, sculptures, photographs and collages, in which time is understood as another element of matter in artistic production. Noteworthy are the pieces by Ignasi Aballí, Judith Barry, Constant, Dan Graham, Hans Haacke, Sanja Ivekovic, Joan Jonas, David Lamelas, Rita McBride, Asier Mendizabal, Matt Mullican, Deimantas Narkevicius, Palle Nielsen, Tere Recarens, Francesc Torres and Lawrence Weiner.

This exhibition also features the presentation of the priority areas of interest and research for MACBA in this new stage, initiated in 2008. The MACBA is ideally placed to produce a collection which explains the transition from the 20th to the 21st centuries, which begins with formulations of the final utopias of the last century and speaks of its crises, and then follows the present century with its complexities and contradictions.
