The incoherent arts: bohemia and avant-garde

Lecture by Juan José Lahuerta, Professor of the History of Art at the School of Architecture Barcelona.

This lecture forms part of the activities related to the exhibition "Art and Utopia: Limited Action," an exhibition that analyzes the effects of Stephane Mallarme's (1842-1898) poetic on modern art, beginning in the first decade of the twentieth century to the end of the 1970s. The exhibition considers key moments in the history of art and its relation to language and its dispersion through a selection of more than 900 works, which go beyond the traditional classification between poetry and the visual arts, including film, photography, theatre, dance and music. The lecture will focus on the museum's first floor galleries, which are dedicated to the historical avant-garde.
