Access to contemporary art requires a commitment from the museum to reduce barriers ranging from the physical, communicative and cognitive to the economic. The objective of promoting universal accessibility and audience diversity is carried out through a programme that articulates different lines of work and collaborative relationships.

The MACBA promotes an Accessibility Programme with the conviction that art facilitates integration and social transformation. Accessibility is addressed throughout the museum, from ongoing improvements to installations to the design of programmes that promote bringing art closer to all audiences with resources adapted to different needs. We work to make it possible for everyone to enjoy the spaces, activities and aesthetic experiences proposed.

Close to culture
Close to Culture is an inclusive network that connects theatres, concert halls, festivals and museums with entities in the social sector to make culture accessible. It offers a wide range of cultural performances and activities at affordable prices for people at risk of social exclusion or with disabilities.Under this scheme, community organisations in the Close to Culture programme can have group visits with mediation for €3 per person.

ART GRAN
Secondary Affects is a weekly meeting during which groups of senior citizens are invited to visit MACBA to discover, experiment, ask a thousand-and-one questions without any obvious answers, prolong time and shorten distances: between different points in the city, between art forms, between generations, between opinions, memories and emotions, and between accompanied solitudes.
Programme supported by Barcelona’s Public Health Agency, a research and intervention project focused on art, health and older people in situations of loneliness.

We work to make contemporary art accessible to people from our immediate community. This is why we pay special attention to signing agreements with local groups – from universities to charity and cultural associations – to offer them free or reduced-price entrance.
Consult all the concessions and free entrance options available in the Free Entrance and Discount Admission section or at the museum ticket office.Also, entrance is free on the first Sunday of every month and, during summer opening hours, in the last two hours of the afternoon from Thursday to Saturday: come to the MACBA Evenings!
