The five episodes of Spiritual Voices (Aleksandr Sokurov, 1995) – lasting a total of five hours and forty-three minutes – recount an extended stay at a frontier military post on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border. The long sequences showing the routine activities of the soldiers place viewers before an enigmatic chain of events.

From five in the afternoon to twelve midnight, exceeding the Museum’s usual opening hours, MACBA invites visitors to attend a group screening of Spiritual Voices. The idea is to have a shared experience of a kind of cinema that pushes the limits of our attention and challenges our passivity as spectators. A snack will be served during the screening, and at the end of the session there will be an opportunity for those present to share their impressions.
