Set

The exhibition Set explored the origins of the artistic maturity of seven Belgian artists: Marcel Broodthaers, Carl De Keyzer, Jan Fabre, Marc Goethals, Thierry De Cordier, Bernd Lohaus and Luc Deleu. The discourse of the show revolved around the links between image and text, visual poetry and the new narrative forms of art. It highlighted the simplicity of the materials used by these artists, as well as their idea of artistic creation as an adventure and their contact with everyday life and topics. The catalogue includes an introduction by Hans Martens, excerpts of interviews and comments by the artists that offer an insight into the works exhibited.
