MACBA’s publication, Pan-Africa. Art and Political Imaginaries for the Construction of a Black Planet, features a selection of texts by various authors on the subject of Pan-Africanism viewed from different perspectives, with the intention of creating a sociopolitical and cultural imaginary linked not only to race but to solidarity. The aim is to reveal the plural character of the Pan-African project, which, albeit tangentially, is an unavoidable part of the history and sociopolitical imaginary of the city of Barcelona and of Spanish history.
The book includes historical and contemporary texts, and new essays vindicating Pan-Africanism as essential for the understanding of our own history.
The publication consists of two separate editions in Catalan and Spanish.
