The Otolith Group
London
2002
The Otolith Group is an art collective founded in London in 2002 by Anjalika Sagar (London, 1968) and Kodwo Eshun (London, 1967), whose work spans essays, curatorial projects, films and videos. Through an eclectic repertoire of art materials and media, they reflect on the nature of perception and analyse the role of documents and images in the construction of accounts of the post-colonial world. Films, texts, documents, photos, paintings, sound and music interrelate and construct new temporalities. Expanding on the documentary genre, their films are like collages of images that address topics ranging from the ideology of the Cold War to the processes of global capitalism.

Their works have been presented at renowned institutions such as the Rubin Museum of Art in New York (2018), MOCAD in Detroit (2011), MACBA in Barcelona (2011), the Tate Modern in London (2010), ICA in London (2009), the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven (2008) and the Project Arts Centre in Dublin (2006). They have also been shown at documenta in Kassel (2012), the São Paulo Biennial in Brazil (2010), the Shanghai Biennale (2008), the Seville Biennial (2006) and transmediale in Berlin (2004). Their works can be found in the collections of the Tate Modern in London, the Guggenheim in New York and MACBA in Barcelona, among others.
