To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Catalan magazine Dau al Set (October 1948), MACBA organised an exhibition that reinstated the work of a series of artists whose desire for change influenced the art scene of the time: Modest Cuixart, Joan Ponç, Antoni Tàpies, Joan Brossa and Joan-Josep Tartas, and the writers Juan-Eduardo Cirlot and Arnau Puig. The catalogue shows how these artists – who also collectively called themselves Dau al Set – strove to revive the Catalan avant-garde tradition that had been interrupted by the Civil War. It includes the contents of the forty-eight issues of the magazine, a comprehensive list of the activities of the members of the group, and a bibliography.
