Are you Ready for TV?
Esteu a punt per a la televisió?

To complement the project Are you Ready for TV?, which offers an unusual reading of the relationship between television as a medium on one hand, and art and philosophy on the other, a new trilingual (Catalan, Spanish and English) digital publication has been launched.
It will be published in installments that include introductory texts by Chus Martínez and Hans Magnus Enzensberger, and essays by the artists and historians Judith Barry, Ina Blom, Tamara Chaplin, Dora García, Mario García Torres, Johan Grimonprez, Albert Serra and Temporary Services (Brett Bloom, Salem Collo-Julin and Marc Fischer).

Valladolid, 1965
Dora García studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam. After living in Brussels for fifteen years, she is now settled in Barcelona, from where she organises projects around the world. Initially a sculptor, she soon broadened her field of action to include performance, video, language, electronic and social media. García invites viewers to participate in her work by taking sides on questions that are often ethically controversial. Through a variety of media and a wide range of documentation, she asks them to commit themselves to a detailed examination of complex issues. With a research-based practice, she encourages viewers to take a personal stand on the history of some anti-institutional movements, such as anti-psychiatry, the figure of the artist as an outsider, or the cultural mechanisms for the production of meaning.

She has participated in major international exhibitions such as Manifesta (1998), Istanbul Biennial (2003), Münster Sculpture Projects (2007), Biennale of Sydney (2008) and Documenta, Kassel (2012), among others. She represented Spain in the 2011 Venice Biennale. She has held exhibitions in museums such as MACBA, Barcelona (2003), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (2005), MUSAC, León (2005, 2015), SMAK, Ghent (2006), GfZK, Leipzig (2007), CA2M, Móstoles, Madrid (2014), IVAM, Valencia (2018), and Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo, Santiago de Compostela (2020), among others. Her work is included in the collections of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Fundació “la Caixa”, Barcelona, Centre National des Arts Plastiques, Paris, Henry Art Foundation, Seattle, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, León, the FRAC of Metz, Dijon, Montpellier and Paris, and MACBA, Barcelona.
