The photographic work of Ahlam Shibli, born in 1970 in Palestine, exposes the violent denial of home as well as the limitations and restrictions exercised in its name; it traces the resistance against the loss of home and efforts to find new ways to exist and survive far from it. This publication reproduces the sixty-eight images of Shibli’s most recent work, Death, as well as a selection of earlier works, such as Trauma, Trackers, and Goter. It includes an in-depth discussion of the works by art critic T.J. Demos, and a study by anthropologist Esmail Nashif on the ways in which death has become part of the apparatuses of resisting the colonial regime in Palestine.
