It is a thematic series of viewings presented by critics, historians and directors. The programme is organised into double sessions, a kind of montage work based on films directed by Portabella and other films by Godard, Bergman, Straub/Huillet, Alexander Kluge, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Glauber Rocha, or films produced by Portabella, like those by Antonio Maenza or José Luis Guerín. This programme proposes certain thematic lines: a challenge to sight and illusionist cinematographic forms, image materialism, the questioning of forms of social identity and an exploration of the viewer's identification processes, an analysis of society and culture through reflection on aesthetic practices themselves; the state of image, memory, history and politics after the fall of the Wall. Finally, this expository project is an invitation to reflect on contemporary ways of narrating memory and history through audio-visual practices.
