MACBA Thirty

We celebrate Year Thirty of an infinite MACBA that projects the future as a space for revision and possibility: of taking up what was left unfinished, updating what needs it and projecting anew everything that can still be transformed. On 28 November 1995, we embarked on a journey that had, in reality, begun much earlier, driven by the many voices calling for a museum of contemporary art in the city. Thanks to that collective desire, today we can commemorate Year Thirty of a living, porous and committed institution that, from multiple perspectives, carries out initiatives capable of expanding the MACBA’s relationship with the world, the city and its denizens, as well as with the neighbourhood and its inhabitants. A MACBA that adopts diverse formats to generate new spaces of visibility and explore other ways of inhabiting and understanding the world.
