Jaume Xifra
Composició
Composition
1966
Part of the so-called Group of Catalans in Paris, from 1966 Jaume Xifra abandoned traditional pictorial tools to print images using artisanal templates and coloured aerosols following the pochoiror stencil technique, thus eliminating gestures and emotion. Xifra superimposes images taken from everyday life and advertising in compositions that critique consumer society. Shoes, cups, glasses, razors and also human faces are deployed as if in an immense showcase, with a striking visual presence due to the contrast of negative-positive, the size of the objects, as well as their orientation and multiplication, mimicking the way in which today’s information society operates.
