Benet Rossell
Micro-òpera 2
Micro-Opera 2
1984
Micro-òpera 2 condenses the concerns and visual language of Benet Rossell, a multifaceted artist who focused on the tiny. Put together as an opera, this is a live display of a work being created: the making of a brush by the artist, who uses his own hair while also painting film stills. Rossell called this pictorial performance “micro-auto-ethnographic”. Along with the video, which details the process and is edited with the chromatic effects typical of the time, the installation features the tools used, the musical instruments played for the soundtrack—also done by the artist—and the original miniatures painted by Rossell, displayed in light boxes.
