Teresa Gancedo
Tub de plàstic
Plastic Tube
1977
Teresa Gancedo uses figurative language to emphasise the concept. Her pieces are compositions that include a broad variety of components (objects, maps, nature, writing, and so on), while always featuring a sharpened sense of collage. In her work from the 1970s drawing assumes a central role. This work is characterised by chromatic contention, often reduced to a use of greys, over which she projects various features without ever renouncing narrative or sequential aspects. While in Terra a piece of agricultural machinery is depicted over top of a field, in Tub de plastic a hydraulic device emerges from out of a drawing of nature. In other work from that period, Gancedo features suitcases, branches, niches, cemeteries, scissors or syringes, here taking on the role of unusual cosmologies evoking a certain fatality, a malignant reality.
