I see research as a journey into the unknown, a plunge into the mirror of the imagination, so I can’t foresee where my present experiments will lead or what I will think in a few years time. For now I’ll continue to push forward the normal means of perception in search of new spaces of sensibility. I accept the past because it has led me to the present, and the future depends on the present. I understand the poet Stephen Spender when he says that in life only ‘my forever’ exists. In parallel to my visual poems and object poems, last year I wrote a book of sestinas and sonnets that hasn’t been published yet: Furgó de cua. One thing doesn’t go against the other. I don’t like categories. I’ve said many times that my work has no measure, no limits. What is the meaning for you of words such as games, theatre, illusion, magic, dream, chance, absurd, reality? Games must be transcended. Theatre must be reinvented (we’re still doing Greek tragedy!). Illusion is a motor that must be preserved. Magic must be understood as a need for change. Dreams don’t need to be coloured in. For a creator, chance is an important factor: it opens up a world of possibilities against the poverty of limitations. The absurd must be patched up.
