Aus: Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung

In Aus: Gesellschaft mit Beschränkter Haftung Siekmann sets out to show the effects of the relations of economic power with the public space. For him that space is gradually becoming an object of interest for private investors and the people on the political scene who are under their influence, so that marginalised groups are often excluded from it. That town-planning policy is developing model images with specific contents used as indirect instruments of control. This work is made up of large series of drawings with which he intends to intervene in that generation of production images.

The over two hundred drawings that make up the work are structured along different lines which deal with subjects such as unemployment, town-planning policies, business management and the urban space.

With the formal unity that emanates from all the drawings that make up the work, another unifying element is the presence of empty pairs of jeans. Sitting down, standing up, performing the most varied actions, as if they were an imaginary person going round the city, they are a representation of the excluded: the people without jobs, without papers, without incomes. Without possibilities of consuming, they have created "unknown territories" in the public space. Siekmann thus shows a divided society in which the public space does not have the same meaning for everyone.
