Antoni Llena
Verds
Greens
1981
Groc (Yellow) and Verds (Green) are part of the first works with which Antoni Llena resumed his artistic activity in the early eighties, after the creative parenthesis resulting from the radicalisation of his conceptual positions. Working with card is connected to the artist’s interest in ephemeral art made from ‘poor’ elements, which he values for their delicacy, fragility and spirituality. Talking about the significance of using card, the artist explains: ‘I took a cutter and started cutting. It was a miracle! The “cut” instantaneously exerted a magical fascination.’ The artist transformed the coloured paper into a real field of experimentation and an experience of volume: cut, fold, tear, paste. The monochrome denotes a desire for purity and radicalism, and the volume a certain sensuality and a touch of the Baroque.
