By the late 1970s, among her other practices, Sara Gibert was exploring the imprint and fragmentation of the body, an interest she continued to pursue throughout the 1980s. Intrigued by body art, she widened the scope and conventions of traditional painting in search of more direct encounters with spectators. As in other series from this period, Cos tampó / Sèrie eròtica (1979–1980) brings together diverse items, including stamp pads, ink, collage, coloured pencil and imprints of her own body. She composes maps of the body that articulate notions such as eroticism, traces, chance, fragments, intimacy and embodiment. In these projects, alive with immediacy and sensorial force, we recognise shapes and tonalities, corporeal landscapes and organic textures that call out to us all.
