Pere Sousa studied sculpture and fine arts, which he left behind to pursue mail art. In the 1990s he directed the publication P.O.BOX, a magazine of reference for postal art in Spain, and he created the Merz Mail factory of cultural activism. The collection donated to the MACBA by Pere Sousa was created thanks to exchanges with different mail artists from all over the world resulting from Merz Mail’s calls for participation and in particular from Sousa’s regular correspondence with a smaller group of artists.
