Accessibility

From the conviction that art must act as an engine of reflection and social transformation, MACBA promotes an accessibility programme not only with the aim of promoting access for all to contemporary art, but also with the desire to welcome and articulate new debates and critical junctures in the field of art and functional diversity.

In its commitment to universal accessibility, MACBA conducts a continuous review to improve its facilities, as well as its conceptual principles. As for the programmes, it generates a number of activities for bringing people closer to the contents of the Museum and that incorporate resources adapted to the needs of different publics. Understanding diversity as an element of collective experimentation and learning, we aim to make it possible for everyone to enjoy the spaces, activities and aesthetic experiences we have to offer.

Free entrance to the exhibitions (including a companion) on presentation of documentation establishing disability. If there are queues, persons with a disability or reduced mobility will have the right to preferential access in the advance purchase entry queue.

Hearing Accessibility

Magnetic loops for hearing impaired people with hearing aids.

Visual Accessibility

The following resources can be requested at the Museum reception:

MACBA has monocles and magnifying glasses available for people with impaired vision.

We have water containers for assistance dogs.

Physical Accessibility

MACBA has ramps and lifts that connect the different floors and rest areas with seats and folding chairs.

It also has adapted toilets.

The museum has two wheelchairs for visitors that can be requested at the Museum reception.

Visitors in wheelchairs can request a monocle at the Museum reception to approach the works more easily.

Cognitive Accessibility

We offer visits to people with intellectual disabilities or in need of support for the understanding of the current exhibitions. The visits include sensory supports and interactive dynamics. We work with concepts and contents suitable for the public at large, but adapting the discourse and offering specific actions in response to the different needs of comprehension and learning.
