As it does every year, the Museum is taking part in the Mercè festival celebrations with an activity for children. This year there are two types of workshop, depending on the age group. The youngest children can visit the exhibition rooms, and will then be able to use a variety of different materials in the open air. For the older ones, animated shorts will be shown in the auditorium, and specialists will help them to learn how shorts are made.

Through the Museum visit, the youngest participants will get to know the materials used in contemporary art and will have hands-on experience of various techniques for using them. At the end of the visit, they can help themselves from a wide range of materials such as paint, mud, things from nature, parts of objects and so on. They can then use these things to exercise their creativity with different textures and techniques.

As well as this, the MACBA is also offering a workshop on film animation, aimed at children over 8 years old. During the workshop, they will have the chance to try animation techniques under specialist tutelage by animation technicians. The participants will have already experienced some unconventional animation, and seen its creative possibilities, in the MACBA auditorium where a programme of animated shorts will be shown.
