MACBA Trenta Timeline
Clara Nubiola
As part of the actions marking MACBA’s 30th anniversary, Clara Nubiola has created a mural sketching out the museum’s thirty-year history.
Conceived on a monumental scale, the celebratory work will greet visitors as they pass through the MACBA atrium throughout the anniversary year, until November 2026. The mural freely combines contents and exhibitions, key dates and anecdotal details, people and ideas as seen through Clara Nubiola’s subjective, relational gaze.

Clara Nubiola (Barcelona, 1976) focuses her interest on running grassroots artistic projects that enable her to approach the surroundings in which we live from a subjective, critical point of view. The city, the countryside, boundaries, peripheries, town planning are topics she raises in a direct questioning of the landscape based on lived experience on the ground. Using austere tools like walking, ink and paper, she works in different formats that address the citizen in the street directly. Interventions in public spaces, participation processes, exhibitions, workshops and publications placing the spotlight on our immediate surroundings. She has published “Pasea y ojea” (Libros del KO, 2024).
