Family Activities
Every weekend, the MACBA offers an ongoing program targeted at families, which combines tours of the exhibition galleries with workshops and film screenings. The Museum opens up to families with the intention of offering a space in which to learn together through play; a place in which to discover artistic projects that are not only aesthetically attractive, but also encourage reflection on the many ways of making, seeing and listening to the art of our time.
Family tours. Guided tours through the spaces and works of the Museum, during which we can talk about all those things that have always intrigued us about contemporary art but we were too afraid to ask.

Programmes recomended for children aged 5 or older. Children must be acompained by an adult.
What is the MACBA?
From 16 January to 7 February and from 1 to 16 May.
Saturdays at 11 am and 5.30 pm; Sundays at 11 am.

This is an unusual tour through the Museum’s exhibition spaces, offering an entertaining, interactive approach to contemporary art in which both parents and kids can give their honest opinion on the works displayed. The visit culminates in a small workshop where the little ones, with a bit of help from the big folks, can build their own imaginary museum.
Noses and ears = portraits?

Questions of Space

Duration: 1 hour 30 min.

Questions of Space proposes an analysis not just of physical spaces, but also the temporal and mental spaces which the works on display at the Museum occupy. The exploration of these spaces would suggest situations experienced physically that could lead us to the joint creation of previously unseen spatial structures.
Multiplying Space

Tour specially designed for families and children from 5 to 12
A tour that will take us through the spaces that different works occupy, while we explore their physical limits and talk about the mental spaces that they evoke. We will engage in observing and discussing specific works, but also in a group exercise that will involve defining and constructing the spaces inhabited by art in the Museum.

Workshop aimed at families and children of all ages
The Museum kicks off its new season with a big family workshop, where kids and grownups can come together to look at some of the works in the Parallel Benet Rossell exhibition, try their hand at new calligraphies with different tools and media that we will provide for all participants.
