MACBA FOR FAMILIES.
WHERE THE WORDS COME FROM

The MACBA for Families activities offer artistic and educational experiences that are open to all ages, because we know that doing things together is the key to constructing new awareness and connections.   After invoking hands and tenderness, we would like to create a continuous and collective space to trace and imagine where words come from. We want to play based on situations, experiences and channels that produce stories and words. Throughout the course, we have invited artists to open spaces to be intertwined by the movement of narration and of listening to bodies, reading the light of the museum and the texture of objects or getting immersed in the architecture of books. This is a space for shared exploration between the artists and families to explore what we can do, be, listen, dream and imagine. Accompanied by stories, movements, objects and spaces, we will question the divisions and borders between them. Each session will open new offshoots of the approaches, collecting the threads that were started, linking the ideas and unfolding new paths, turning Saturday mornings at the MACBA into a space to be and explore together.

For Families, that “comfortable feeling” that comes from the pleasure of just spending time together and sharing in the simplest way. At the MACBA’s for Families programme, we offer you spaces/times with that “comfortable feeling”, in which to try out new and unexpected forms of relating and supporting each other. These are proposals that invite us to put our roles into motion, practicing other rhythms, developing other forms of understanding, learning and collective creation at the museum. Artistic and educational exploration for all ages, expanded families, friends and diverse companions, because we believe that these times of multiple cohabitations are essential for the construction of new imaginaries and new connections. We support proposals from artists that allow us to think with our bodies, touch words, converse with objects and listen to the space around us. They are always explorations in which to share curiosity and develop new connections and listening, within a living museum in movement. We do not focus on the final result, but rather on the possibility of sharing every little wonder that we discover at each step along the way.
