Letters to The Jackson Pollock Bar in the Style of The Red Krayola, 2013

In 2012, Art & Language composed 28 very brief texts, the length of which approached that of song lyrics. The letters were addressed to The Jackson Pollock Bar, a group with which Art & Language frequently produces theory installations based on its own essays. Later that same year, The Red Krayola added a musical accompaniment. The artists performed and gave voice to the letters against the background of The Red Krayola’s filmed performance. The result is an exercise in the criticism of cultural policies – largely informal – that drench the art world. Successive performances of the text free the authors of all responsibility for the opinions expressed.
