Biography

Raquel G. Ibañez + Ylia

Raquel G. Ibáñez received a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid. She alternates her solo artistic practice with participation in collectives such as El Banquete, Hidráulicas or Possible Others. Ibáñez carries out her research alternating and mixing the resources of installation, sound, graphic design, video, writing and also curating exhibitions.

Ylia studied classical piano in the conservatory in Alicante, and arrangement and composition at the Taller de Músics of Barcelona. She is a musical producer, founder of the Animah Records label, a DJ of reference in the underground panorama and director of the programme La Guarida on the Dublab Barcelona radio station.

How to disappear, the project with which both of them are participating in Artists in Residence, began in 2019 as artistic research into the ancestral, collective and cross-disciplinary obsession that has to do with the act of disappearing; of achieving invisibility, the dematerialization of the body. In this new stage, they redirect their investigation toward the field of sound experimentation, acousmatic and oral sound, hybridizing ways of making music, visual arts, performance arts and literature.
