...Inventemos también nosotros..., 1976

...We, too, can invent..., 1976
Graphic material, 29.5 x 21 cm
... Inventemos también nosotros... initially centred on the story of Diego Navarro, an unemployed Andalusian construction worker and father of a large family. After taking part in a demonstration, during which he was wounded, he was imprisoned and subsequently committed suicide. The piece was later completed with the story of Juan Vilá Reyes, a well-known Catalan businessman involved in the Matesa fraud, for which he was imprisoned and later pardoned. The two narratives unfold together, manifesting the lack of information and images of the former as opposed to the abundance of data and documentation about the latter. The treatment and the administration of justice in the two cases were also very different. Eulàlia presented this work at Galeria G, Barcelona. For the commemorative folder, she reproduced an image of the Navarro family in their modest surroundings, next to a photograph of President Carter walking in the street with his family and surrounded by bodyguards in El règim capitalista crea cada dia situacions com aquesta (The capitalist system creates situations like that all the time), 1976.
