Introitus, 1942
Graphic material,
Image: 35.6 x 17.8 cm
In 1942, Josef Albers experimented with various printing techniques, modulating the line in a series of drypoints and lithographs titled Graphic Tectonics. Although he is known mainly for his studies on colour, it is in the absence of chromatism and in his line studies where his highly precise structural line can be best appreciated. Albers constructed these works with very close parallel lines and right angles that create visual illusions of space and volume.
