IN THE MAKING: Cartography of Catalan Architecture and Design Schools is an exhibition presented in Capella MACBA as part of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture. The exhibition sets out to position nine Catalan universities as research laboratories and thought spaces in relation to the global challenges to be discussed at the UIA Congress 2026.
Starting out from the work done by nine Catalan architecture and design schools, the exhibition is presented in the form of a living cartography bringing together different ways of approaching the environmental, material and social transitions affecting architecture.
The exhibition is presented as a map of the knowledge generated and shared at these schools, linked to the six global challenges posed at the Barcelona 2026 UIA World Congress of Architects: “Becoming More-than-human,” “Becoming Circular,” “Becoming Embodied,” “Becoming Interdependent,” “Becoming Hyper Conscious” and “Becoming Attuned”.
The exhibition, to be staged in the Capella MACBA, will also be a place for reflection in which a programme of public activities will be run.
